This is a series of studies created in 2008 that use the grid process to transcribe found portrait images. The exercise was an investigation to see how much visual information was needed for a pictorial representation to remain recognizable. The use of the grid was employed to ensure a consistent and accurate rendering of the photographic original, while offering a diverse range of mark-making.
